Come and see Wellington and the treasures at Te Papa like no one else can. The tour starts with some of Wellington’s most iconic streets like Cuba St & Lambton Quay before stopping at Parliament grounds. Afterwards you will be taken to Mt Victoria for stunning 360º views of Wellington City & Harbour. We then travel down to Te Papa National Museum.

At Te Papa we start the Taonga Māori Tour, which takes you straight to the heart of New Zealand’s national museum. This hosted cultural tour will weave you through the Māori exhibition spaces at Te Papa to experience our unique history through stories and objects. It will then take you behind the scenes to experience Māori taonga (treasures) close up and provide you with an opportunity to engage with collections staff. This is an exclusive view of the main Maori Treasures collection at Te Papa and is not open to the public. The visit to Te Papa ends with some light refreshments and a short time to reflect with your hosts and then returning to your city accommodation.

Experience Wellington’s vibrant, eclectic art and architecture on the Capital Arts Tour and spend half a day immersed in the creative worlds of Wellington, the absolute arts capital of New Zealand. See beautiful Victorian buildings sit alongside daring architectural designs, and museums and galleries displaying the best of the world’s historical collections and the latest works by contemporary New Zealand artists.
On the tour you see Wellington’s intriguing early suburbs, including a visit to Old St Paul’s cathedral, New Zealand’s finest wooden gothic revival church, and the Old Government Buildings built of wood, made to look like stone; the Supreme Court designed to work alongside the old high court; and of course no architectural tour would be complete without a look at the Beehive and Parliamentary Buildings.
From Architecture to Art we explore the art collections at some of New Zealand’s leading galleries and learn about the rich mix of Maori, Pacific, and European history. Finish the tour browsing for unique gifts at exclusive city stores that sell pieces from leading Pacific Rim artists.
The tour includes pick-up and drop-off from city centre accommodation, and all entry fees. Explore and enjoy the diversity of a city that provides an artistic experience around every corner.
