MARTINBOROUGH WINE TOUR – FULL DAY

White Triangle divider

Indulge in a day of tasting some of New Zealand’s leading wines leaving the worries of driving behind. Enjoy the specialist knowledge of some of Wairarapa’s leading wine makers and experience a day of tastings that is uniquely Martinborough.

Your guide will meet you at your city hotel and drive you through the picturesque Hutt Valley, over the impressive Rimutaka Hills and into sunny Martinborough.  The journey to the Martinborough vineyards takes approximately 1.5 hours from Wellington city. You will have the opportunity to stop along the way to enjoy the charming countryside and lovely scenery.

In the heart of the Wairarapa wine region between a rugged coastline and bush clad hills, are Martinborough’s boutique wineries, internationally renowned for Pinot Noir. This personal tour includes tastings at award-winning boutique wineries, such as Murdoch James, Te Kairanga, Palliser, Muirlea Rise, Tirohana, Alana Estate and Martinborough, an opportunity to talk with local winemakers, a superb bistro lunch at a vineyard and the option of visiting an olive processing estate.

There is no set itinerary for the day, we go as fast or slow as the clients dictate. Please let us know if there are any vineyards or wine types that are of particular interest and we will do our best to include them in the tour.

This tour includes Wellington accommodation pick-up and drop-off, all transfers, all tasting fees and a gourmet lunch with a glass of local wine.

Join us for a Craft Beer Tour, combining the best tastes of Wellington. We’re not sure what the optimum number of breweries in a country of four and a half million people should be, but we’re pretty sure that the correct answer is not “two”. So since the late 1990’s Craft & Micro-breweries have been popping up around Wellington like mushrooms, making us the Craft Beer Capital of New Zealand.

Combining the best tastes of Wellington. Start with a famous Wellington Coffee and perhaps a speciality Soda from the Six Barrel Soda Company on the way to the new Wellington Chocolate Factory to see how they combine the craft beer flavour into their chocolate. Our first Brewery is one of Wellington’s favorite, Parrot Dog Brewery. With tastings and talks with the brewers see how Parrot Dog has grown along with the Wellington Craft beer scene. Then a bit of lunch at a local cafe ready for an afternoon of exploring the breweries in and around the Wellington region. We change the breweries we visit in the afternoon depending on the day and what is available. Rest assured our guides have taken on the laborious task of researching as many different beers as we can find. It’s a tough job sometimes. We finish at one of the many Free-houses we have here in the Craft Beer Capital of New Zealand.

We start with a short drive through the City to one of Wellington’s best ‘Free Houses’ for Brunch (or late lunch if in the afternoon departure). This venue captures the essence of the Wellington Capital of Cool and is the first all organic Brewery Bar, Coffee Roastery & Restaurant.

There is an ever changing menu that will be matched with some small batch, brewed on-site beers (substitute for Wine or Cider). The menu has gluten free & vegetarian options available – please advise us if you require this when booking.

After this we will visit one of New Zealand’s first Craft Beer breweries. We will hear a brief history of the location and some of the innovations that have gone into their brews.

Finally finish at a Wellington Chocolatier to sample some artisan, locally made chocolates.
